Into Uncertainty begins by asking why people willingly step into danger. It becomes a larger meditation on what happens when certainty becomes the condition for living.
Two emergency-management professionals enter an unsupported, ten-day expedition across Baja to investigate why people voluntarily choose risk, only to discover what uncertainty exposes when their preparation, competence, and control begin to fail.

When it first started I thought it was just gonna be about the Baja XL, but man, it was so much more!
So much fun, entertaining, and honestly moving. We both laughed and cried. Powerfully told.
My biggest takeaway from the movie and the XL is the bonding and camaraderie.
The 2025 BajaXL: no winners, no sponsors, no support crews, no guaranteed rescue. Just the people who showed up.
Ryan Christen, a former firefighter, and Derek Bays, a geologist, built careers around anticipating danger. The BajaXL asked them to step into it, alongside a community of strangers who became each other’s support crew.
